Having recently celebrated its two-year anniversary, Bookstore Gallery has established itself as a cornerstone of the community. Here, cannabis isn’t just a product; it’s a healing tool offered in various forms—smokables, teas, gummies, and topicals—all aimed at promoting wellness and elevating spirits. It’s more than an apothecary; it’s a dynamic tea bar, event space, and art gallery, hosting rotating exhibits that showcase local talent.

The gallery also serves as a safe haven for mental health practitioners and community members alike, with initiatives like AunTea’s Tea Talk and the Men’s Mental Health Meet-Up. Weekly and monthly events—like Game Night, Paint and Puff, and the Friday Fish Fry Suds and Buds—create an inviting atmosphere where everyone can connect and unwind.

Kyle Brown and AunTea Chi, the visionary duo behind Bookstore Gallery, saw a gap in the market for cannabis-based wellness solutions in Georgia. Their journey began at the kitchen table, where conversations sparked a passion for healing through the plant. Both HBCU graduates, they initially operated online before taking their beloved infused teas to pop-up events, where they quickly gained popularity.

With the addition of team members Malcolm and Tokyo, the diverse skills within the group propelled their dream into a thriving brick-and-mortar space. Kyle’s admiration for the neighborhood’s rich history of Black entrepreneurship, particularly figures like Herman J. Russell and the legacy of Paschal’s Restaurant, influenced their choice of location. The Bookstore Gallery has roots in the community, having once served as a bookstore for Morris Brown College and the International Theological Center.

Now, with plans for a new location in O4W at 488 Edgewood, set to open later this month, the Bookstore Gallery is poised to expand its reach, further contributing to the wellness and vibrancy of the Atlanta community.
