The Underground Railroad Experience

Thursday, we visited the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. This was a real inspirational museum. To experience how Harriet Tubman grew up to be a magnificent leader. She helped her family and others to escape slavery, because she wanted to share freedom with others. We also went to Ripley, Ohio and visited John Parker’s and Reverenced John Rankins’ Homes. These were houses for freed slaves to rest, get new shoes and clothes and to get a meal for their continued journey. Sometimes they hid them in their barn during the daylight hours. These men were part of the Underground Railroad. Ripley, Ohio had a lot of abolitionist that helped escaped slaves to freedom….
