National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

National Night Out now involves neighbors participating across thousands of communities from all 50 states, the United States territories, Canadian and military bases worldwide. Atlanta Police Department and communities across the city will come together and celebrate in “Giving Neighborhood Crime and Drugs A Going Away Party”.

Pym Particles Productions II, LLC will be filming scenes for the feature film “Cherry Blue” on Peters Street SW from Ted Turner Drive SW to Haynes Street SW. They will also be filming scenes underneath the Peters St. bridge at a private business off Mangum Street SW. Filming will take place from 7 AM – 8 PM on August 8th.

Please note the following street/lane closures:

Aug 7th and 9th: partial road closure on Peters St SW from Ted Turner to Haynes St, closing westbound lanes. Two way traffic will flow via the eastbound lane. The west curb side walk will close but will not restrict access to businesses.
 
Aug 8th (film day): full road closure of Peters St from Ted Turner to Haynes St. Once Peters Street scenes are complete, eastbound lanes will re-open and switch to intermittent traffic control.
 
Aug 7th-9th: parking lane closure of the west curb-parking lane on Peters St. from Ted Turner Dr. SW to Haynes St. SW.
 
Off-duty Atlanta Police officers will be present to ensure public safety.

Umpire Productions will film scenes for the feature “UMPIRE” at 251 Peters St.  They will shoot exterior driving scenes, exterior dialogue, as well as interior dialogue at the location. Filming activities will be conducted on August 9th and 10th.

Prep and Strike will occur on August 6,7,8,11,14 from 7AM-7PM and Shooting will occur from 7AM-10PM on August 9th and 10th.

Please note the following lane/sidewalk closures:

*August 6,7,8,11, and 14: “NO PARKING” posting in the spaces on the North/West side of Peters St SW running from Fair St. SW to Walker St. SW from 7AM-7PM

*August 9 and 10: “NO PARKING” posting in the spaces of on the North/West side of Peters St. SW running from Fair St. SW to Walker St. SW from 6AM-10PM

*August 9 and 10: “LANE CLOSURE” posting on South Side of Fair ST. SW running from Walker St. SW to Peters St. from 6AM-10PM

The Neighborhood comes alive every 2nd Friday! Join us for the Castleberry Hill Art Stroll! There are lots of cool happenings you don’t want to miss, and while you’re here enjoy dinner and drinks at one of the neighborhood restaurants. Check out our recent feature in Access Atlanta!

Castleberry Hill Art Stroll is a self-guided tour and is completely FREE of charge! New info is posted here as it becomes available and info sheets/maps will be posted the week of the event and available at 180 Walker St SW in front of Bottle Rocket the night of the Stroll. For the latest Art Stroll Event Info check out the Facebook page and follow castleberryhill on IG.

 

Slide the City’s 2017 tour will return July 15 to transform the streets outside Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park into an epic 1,000-foot inflatable waterslide. In addition to the biggest slip ‘n’ slide you’ve ever seen, the event will have live music, food, drinks, and local vendors to complete this urban summer block party. Get your tickets here.

CHNA General Body meeting is July 17th,  7pm at No Mas Cantina, 180 Walker St (upstairs).  The social will follow downstairs at Poco Mas. If you’d like to get involved and stay up to date on community happenings, be sure to attend.
